PRE-CARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR PATIENTS UNDERGOING INTRAVENOUS SEDATION
Eating and Drinking: You may not have anything to eat or drink (including water) after midnight the day prior to your surgery appointment.
Getting To The Appointment: You must be accompanied to the appointment by a responsible adult, or in the case of a minor, a parent or legal guardian. Do not take a bus or taxi. Arrangements must be made to have the patient under direct supervision for a minimum of 24 hours after discharge. The patient should not drive a vehicle or operate any machinery for 24 hours following the anesthesia experience.
Clothing: Please wear loose fitting clothing with short sleeves and low heeled shoes. Contact lenses, jewelry, and dentures must be removed at the time of surgery.
Medications: Prescription medications should be taken as scheduled (unless you are directed not to by your doctor) and are to be taken only with a sip of water.
